All of the members of the Japanese Akita Inu Obreedience team are successful show dogs in the UK or Europe (or both). Teasel and Takara have both achieved their KC Good Citizen Gold award and Tokaloshi and Akiko have both achieved their KC Good Citizen Bronze award. Kiko was a rescue who was rehomed at the age of 2 years old with no training and little socialization. She now competes, as does Tokaloshi in Obedience, Agility and Canicross.

We are all regular members of the breed show circuit and this is how we know each other. When the Obreedience competition was announced we thought this was a brilliant opportunity to show people that the Japanese Akita Inu is more than just a pretty dog. They can also be trained (although it is sometimes not easy!)

Kate with Tokaloshi is the only team member who has competed in Obedience, so there is a bit of nervousness from the handlers as well as excitement at competing. We are looking forward to a fun day out at Crufts doing something different. On the Sunday several of the dogs are also competing in the breed classes as well so it'll be a busy weekend.
