Smooth Collie

 

The Smooth Collie team is made up of Lucy Heath with Trent (FOXEARTH FOLLOW ME), Sophie Harrison with Bindi (SEANUA SANS SOUCI), Ann Fuller with Maggie (PLAISANCE OLIVE LA BELLE), Kate Giddings with Jazz (ALL THAT JAZZ AT RYECOMBE) and reserves Val Neff with Poppy (HIGHTRI UNTIL) and Sheila Campbell with Dolly (RYECOMBE DOLLY MIXTURE).

 

With less than a hundred puppies born every year the Smooth Collie is a numerically tiny breed. With no dogs in England currently competing  in Obedience, it was always going to be a challenge to assemble a team. With the use of social media -and an awful lot of phone calls! -we were able to pinpoint those dogs with the right temperament, who were working in various other disciplines and whose owners were sporting enough to give Obreedience a go.

 

Geography has been a huge challenge, with team members living as far apart as deepest Devon, Manchester and Essex, but team spirit has been amazing with people travelling enormous distances to practise. The whole team is committed to trying to show the public that the Smooth Collie is a wonderful natured versatile breed that can turn its hand to many disciplines – between them these dogs participate successfully  in Heelwork to Music, Agility, Rally, Breed showing and the PAT dog programme.
